No complaints about honest employees at local Arby’s

Photo By: Eugenia Jones Arby’s Restaurant in Whitley City is blessed to have some hard-working and honest employees who care about their customers. The Arby’s team members who ensured that customer Bonnie Kilby’s lost purse and its contents were returned to her are pictured left to right: Manager Tammy Threet, Kaylee Anderson, Night Manager Melissa King, and Arby’s customer, Bonnie Kilby.
“In today’s society, it is refreshing to know there are still people who are honest and will do the right thing,” Bonnie Kilby said, speaking about employees at the Whitley City Arby’s Restaurant, who recently did a good deed for Kilby, in a big way.
Kilby explained how she recently ate lunch at Arby’s and accidentally left her purse at the table. As she went about her business that day, Kilby failed to realize she had left her purse behind.
“I didn’t know that I had even lost my purse until about 11:00 that night after I had gone to bed and the phone rang,” Kilby recalled.
Fortunately for Kilby, the workers at Arby’s found her purse soon after she left the eatery and put it in the restaurant safe for safekeeping, expecting the owner to return in search of their missing handbag. When no one came back to claim the purse, the restaurant’s night manager decided to look inside for some identification.
As fate would have it, Kilby’s nephew, Brokiah, went through the Arby’s drive-thru that night. Having identified the purse’s owner as Kilby, the night workers asked Brokiah if he could help them return the purse to its rightful owner. Brokiah quickly sprang into action, calling his grandmother, who, in turn, called Kilby.
“When I got the call, I still didn’t know I had lost my purse,” Kilby said with a laugh. “I got out of bed and drove to Arby’s to get it that very same night!”
When Kilby arrived at Arby’s, the night manager, Melissa King, gladly returned the purse to Kilby.
“I had quite a bit of money in my purse,” Kilby said. “Nothing at all was touched or missing. It’s truly remarkable.”
A few days later, Kilby returned to Arby’s to thank the ladies who helped her retrieve her handbag and to give them a gift of appreciation.
While a current marketing slogan for Arby’s across the nation is: “We’ve got the meats,” Kilby’s experience proves that, in McCreary County, Arby’s has got the meats, along with honest employees who care about their customers.
