Oneida police obtained a search warrant and seized the 2008 Cadillac Escalade. The Oneida Police Department then transferred evidential custody of the vehicle to the McCreary County Sheriff’s Office.

An early morning 4th of July vehicle-versus-pedestrian incident left a 30-year-old McCreary County woman seriously injured and facing a lengthy recovery.
According to reports, McCreary County E-911 received an early-morning call at approximately 2:20 a.m. on July 4, 2025, from Aliza Lianne Foster saying that she had been hit by a car and was lying in a driveway, unable to move. Foster could not provide a location for 911; however, her phone pinged to an address in the Mt. Pleasant community of Strunk. Foster advised 911 that the vehicle that hit her had left the scene.
McCreary 911 immediately dispatched McCreary County EMS, McCreary County Sheriff’s Office, and South McCreary (Pine Knot) Fire Department. 911 also contacted three different medical air-flight services; however, all were unable to provide helicopter medical assistance due to fog in the area.
According to the lead investigator of the case, McCreary County Deputy Sheriff Alex Jones, he and Deputy Ricky Flannery responded to the call and were the first to arrive on the scene at a residence located approximately two miles west on Mount Pleasant Road. Arriving at the scene, Deputy Jones found Aliza Foster lying in a gravel driveway. South McCreary Fire and McCreary County EMS arrived after being held up for a few minutes by a passing train. Foster was loaded into an ambulance as Deputy Jones and Fire Chief Tim Cox assisted EMS with first aid at the scene. Foster was transported by ambulance to Baptist Health in Corbin and later air-lifted to a hospital in Lexington, KY, due to the severity of her injuries.
Allegedly, Aliza Foster was at a social gathering with Adam Daugherty of Oneida, TN. The social gathering ended, leaving Foster, Daugherty, and a third person, a friend of Daugherty’s, Jason Arant, at the location. Reportedly, Foster and Daugherty were in a hot tub and began arguing when Daugherty accused Foster of paying too much attention to his friend. Foster said she tried to avoid an argument because Daugherty allegedly was heavily intoxicated.
According to Foster, Daugherty exited the hot tub and went to a camper on the residence property where the three planned to spend the night to avoid driving under the influence. Foster alleged that Daugherty got in his vehicle (a 2008 Cadillac Escalade) with Arant as a passenger and began driving out the driveway towards her. Foster stated that she opened the driver’s door to put the vehicle in park or take the keys. At that time, Daugherty reportedly accelerated, running over Foster with the rear, driver’s side tire, and causing her severe injuries. Daugherty left the scene and, at some point, returned to Tennessee.
The following day, July 5, 2025, Deputy Jones obtained enough information to provide a summary of events to Oneida (TN) Police, who obtained a search warrant for Dilligaf Cycle Shop on Alberta Avenue (Hwy 27) in Oneida. As a result, Oneida, TN, police seized the vehicle that Daugherty was suspected of driving the night before. Daugherty arrived at the shop while the Escalade was being seized. He was Mirandized by Oneida law enforcement; however, Daugherty refused to answer questions, invoking his right to an attorney.
After seizing the vehicle, the Oneida Police Department transferred evidential custody of it to the McCreary County Sheriff’s Office. The Escalade was impounded and is being processed for potential evidence. According to Deputy Jones, Daugherty later made contact with the McCreary Sheriff’s Office and has since been cooperative with police. The investigation is ongoing with possible charges pending.
An update on Foster’s Facebook page early last week stated that initially, Foster’s pelvis was shattered entirely, her left leg was detached internally, and she had internal bleeding. By the time of the update, the bleeding was controlled, and the leg was doing better following insertion of a rod and use of traction. A member of Foster’s family said Foster is expected to remain hospitalized at least six more weeks before being released to a physical rehabilitation center. Multiple surgeries are planned. Foster underwent one successful surgery last week. Her sister has established a GoFundMe page to assist with medical and related expenses. The following responded to the incident: McCreary County 911 Dispatch, McCreary County EMS, McCreary County Sheriff’s Office, South McCreary Fire Department, and the Oneida, TN Police Department. McCreary County Deputy Sheriff Alex Jones is leading the investigation with assistance from McCreary County Chief Deputy Dustin Ridner. The Commonwealth’s Attorney Detective, Wayne Bird, is also assisting with the investigation.
