In addition to the Republican incumbents Ken Upchurch (52nd State Representative District) and Robert Stivers (25th State Senate District) who are running unopposed in the May 21, 2024 primary, the following candidates also filed for McCreary County office by the January 5, 2024 deadline.
Republican incumbent Othel King will be unopposed on the McCreary County Circuit Court Clerk ballot in the May primary. Incumbent Ronnie Bowling of Corbin, KY filed for re-election as Commonwealth’s Attorney in the 34th Circuit which serves both McCreary and Whitley Counties. Incumbent Congressman Hal Rogers of Somerset, KY filed for re-election as Kentucky’s 5th District U.S. Representative. Rogers, who has been the 5th District Congressman for almost 43 years faces Republicans Dana Edwards (Manchester), Brandon Monhollen (London), and David E. Kraftchak, Jr. (London) in the May primary.
Candidates for President in the May primary are: Republicans Ryan L. Binkley, Chris Christie, Ron DeSantis, Nikki R. Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Donald J. Trump. Democrat candidates in the primary are Joseph R. Biden, Dean Phillips, and Marianne Williamson.
