January OC Tax collections up again

For the fourth consecutive month, Occupational Tax collections have exceeded the previous years totals, but are still projected to fall short of what has been budgeted for the fiscal year.

January collections were $138,559.32, about $2,500 higher than the same period this past year, and brought the seven-month total to $520,262.73.

Occupational Tax Administrator Stephanie Tucker told the Fiscal Court Thursday that collections for February, through the first two weeks, have been strong, and she expects another good report. Last February just over $137,500 was collected.

With a monthly average of approximately $74,323 in collections, a total of $891,876 could be collected for the year, about $59,000 short of the $950,000 projected in the 2014-15 budget. Traditionally, the final five months of the fiscal years average about $77,000 over that span, which would still fall short of the budget by about $44,000.
