Helen Clare Weaver

Helen Clare Weaver, age 89, wife of Wenard Weaver, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at her home in Stearns, Kentucky and was placed in the care of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 1:00 pm in the chapel of the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 11:00 am Saturday at the funeral home. Born on January 19, 1936, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, Helen was the daughter of Ralph B. Galvin and Virginia Reppert Galvin. She dedicated her life to nurturing others through education and care, having worked as a schoolteacher and as an activities director at several nursing homes. Helen earned her bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Excelsior College in New York and attended Pleasant Run Community Church. She found joy in many simple pleasures fishing, reading, birdwatching, and riding horses as an accomplished equestrian. Above all, she cherished her time with family, to whom she was wholeheartedly devoted. On December 27, 1956, she married the love of her life, Wenard Weaver, in Seattle, Washington. Together they built a life rooted in love, family, and service. She is preceded in death by her parents and her son-in-law, Leamon Godsey. Helen is survived by her devoted husband, Wenard; sons, Eric Weaver and Douglas Weaver (Lisa); daughters, Ricki Godsey, Nikki New (Ronald), and Virginia James (Charles); brothers, Ralph Galvin (Twee), Dr. Matthew Galvin (Megan), and Peter Galvin (Lucinda); sisters, Virginia Galvin, Dr. Antonitte Galvin, Beulah Galvin, and Deborah Galvin; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
