Marilyn Alcorn

Marilyn Dunesmore Alcorn, age 77 years, 8 months, and 7 days passed away Monday, February 10, 2025 at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset and was placed in the care of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Friday, February 14, 2025 at 3:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. Malachi Barnett officiating. Burial was in McCreary Memorial Gardens. Marilyn was born on June 3, 1947, in Ohio, and was the adopted daughter of Cecil and Dorothy Dunesmore. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Eastern Kentucky University and later worked as an activities director before her retirement. Marilyn had a lifelong love of reading, particularly biographies, and was known for her excellent cooking. She took great joy in preparing meals and caring for her family, always striving to make others feel loved and appreciated through her culinary skills. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved son, Jason Alcorn, and brothers Ray Clark and Barry Ragland. She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Roger Alcorn, whom she married on July 27, 1967. Also left to cherish her memory are her son, John Alcorn, and wife, Rebecca Krieg, her sisters, Ruth Jones, Doris McCord, and Carol Burkhart, and her brother, Kenneth Henry. Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home was honored to serve the family of Marilyn Alcorn.
