Jimmy Darrel “Joe” Cox August 22, 1942 – January 2, 2025 Age 82 of the Smithtown community Graveside funeral services were held Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at the Angel Cemetery. Joe Darrel made his living in construction and strip mining, owning Cox Construction and trucking. He was a member of the Ross Grove United Baptist Church. Joe Darrell enjoyed fishing, working, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was blessed with a host of relatives: his parents, Willie Elmer Cox and Mabry Thomas Cox, his wife, Brenda Sue Ross Cox, sons; Jimmy Darrel Cox, Jr. (Lauri Perry/Theresa Perkins/Teresa Walker/Sheila/Christina), and Steven Joe Cox (Vanessa/Renee), daughter; Linda Kay Cox Roberts (Kevin), grandchildren, Jeffrey Cox, Amber Walker (Sean Privett), Jonathan Cox (Vanessa), Christopher Cox (Kayla/Rachel), Michelle Cox (Justin Brown), Stephanie Waters (Joseph), Tiffany Cox, Michael Cox, Sara Cox, Katie Cox, Kimber Cox, David Cox, and Emitt Cox, great grandchildren: Briahna, Alex, Brentlee, Aleighna Grace, Zivah Marie, Mia Brielle, Christopher Ryan, Terri NovellaLou, Greyson Colt, Bentley Wade, and Weston, brothers and sisters; Morville Lee Cox, Walter Payne Cox, Michael Ray Cox, James Loyd “Dee” Cox, Patricia Ann Crabtree, Barbara Hollers, Willie Elmer Cox, Elizabeth Poe, Cathy Gowin, Pam Hatfield, Lisa King, John Ridener, Lanny Cox, Joy Watson, Judy Clark, and Mary Griffin, mother-in-law and father-in-law: Elsie and Lemond Ross, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Louise, Beatrice Foster, Leland (Eva Lee) Ross, Bonnie (Bob) Robertson, and Larry (Carmen) Ross.
