Dear McCreary Journal Editor:
This letter is to address the Fiscal Court choosing to opt-out of the medical cannabis dispensaries. The voters of McCreary County should have had the option of voting on this. After emailing the Judge Executive, he explained some of the reasons they chose to opt out. He explained that it was brought up twice and there was no objections by the citizens. After speaking with you about the concerns of voters not getting the opportunity to be heard, I expressed that most people don’t attend the court meetings and you agreed with me. You told me, “Yes, there was no one there when they voted on that.” Although the subject of this letter is the dispensaries, the issue of this letter is voter representation. I live in District 3. My magistrate never consulted me or I believe any citizens of district 3. I would like to hear the reason Magistrate Strunk never asked the citizens of District 3 what they thought of this issue.
Thank you very much.
