Harvey Ancil Perkins

Harvey Ancil Perkins of Holly Hill, Kentucky was born April 9, 1946 and departed from this life on February 5, 2026 at Kenwood Health and Rehabilitation in Richmond, Kentucky and was placed in the care of Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held Sunday, February 8, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home.  Burial was in the Pleasant Run Cemetery.   

Harvey was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Betty Perkins, on September 20, 1969.  They shared many loving years together until her passing.

He is survived by his only child; Byron Eric Perkins (Angie Thurman); grandchildren; Jenna Lynn Perkins and Jolie Elaine Perkins (their mother, Michelle), sisters; Artie Douglas, and Loretta Duncan (Ronnie) and sister-in-law, Ann Perkins.  He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who loved him deeply including Paul Nevels, Ron Hayes, Ronnie Wilson, and Joel and Joseph Lester.  He was preceded in death by his cherished friend, Jimmy Martin.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents; Elmon and Amanda Perkins, his wife; Betty Perkins, siblings; Toni Lawson (Gorman) Paul Perkins, Hobert Perkins (Nelma), Dempsey Perkins (Juanita), Benny Perkins (Clata), and R.L Perkins (Shirley).

He graduated from Pine Knot High School in 1965 and was inducted into the United States Army in December of that year.  Harvey honorably served his country in Vietnam from September 1966 to September 1967.  During his service, he was attached to the 4th Infantry, 9th Division, 9th Infantry, 22nd Infantry/25thInfantry, and 39th Infantry.

Harvey was a faithful member of Pleasant Run Methodist Church.  He found joy in farming, hunting, fishing, and especially in spending time with his family.  He will be remembered for his quiet strength, love for the outdoors, and devotion to those he held dear.

Harvey leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and family that will be cherished by all who knew him.
