McCreary Central’s Technology Student Association (TSA) chapter participated in its first ever national conference held in Louisville, Ky on June 28th through July 2nd. The MCHS delegation included 2023 graduates Evan Wilson, Vanessa Lay, and Wyatt Anderson, and upcoming seniors Connor Stephens, Kylie’Ann Hayes, and Kameron Bowling. Students competed for the first time at a national level, in several technology and design competitions. Our participants made a strong showing; most notably Connor Stephens was recognized as a top 10 finalist in Flight Endurance. While the opportunities to compete were highly valued, students also found that the networking opportunities and connections made with peers were well worth the trip.
TSA is a career and technical student organization, for students involved in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics courses with over 300,000 middle and high school members in 48 states and 3 countries. They coordinate over 70 different STEM competitions that align with classroom learning standards and provide countless leadership, scholarship, and educational advancement opportunities to student members.
McCreary Central has participated in TSA since 2014 through the Engineering CTE program under Mr. Casey Whitworth. During this time they have actively participated in state and regional conferences, bringing home numerous awards over the years. They look forward to continuing these successes in future competitions having now expanded to the national stage.
